Bucktown Vintage Single Family
This discerning couple transitioned from the vibrant energy of the Big Apple to the timeless charm of the Windy City, seeking a vintage home to transform into a personal sanctuary. Drawn to the character of the Bucktown neighborhood, they immediately saw the potential in this house, despite its uninspired, builder-grade finishes. Through a meticulous design process, the home was reimagined to embody their bold, sophisticated aesthetic. Architectural finishes were thoughtfully upgraded, with richly saturated colors enveloping nearly every surface. Custom stonework replaced generic materials, and tailored moldings were introduced to elevate the stairwell into a dramatic focal point. Every fixture was carefully selected to reflect the couple’s progressive and chic style. The pièce de résistance is the master bedroom, where a luxurious Phillip Jeffries grasscloth wallcovering harmonizes with an exquisite mix of textiles from the likes of Christian Lacroix, Jim Thompson and Romo, creating a serene yet striking retreat. The result is a cohesive, richly layered home that captures the dynamic personalities and modern sensibilities of these two extraordinary men.
