Nicholas Moriarty,
Founder + CREATIVE DIRECTOR
INTELLIGENT DESIGN + ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES
I have an innate appreciation for the finer things in life, coupled with a talent for mastering the technical and strategic facets of design. At Nicholas Moriarty Interiors, I blend cutting-edge industry expertise, strong professional relationships, and transparent business practices to craft spaces that are not only stunning but also deeply personal and effortlessly livable. This fusion of precision and artistry defines our work and sets us apart.
My education in Marketing at the University of Northern Iowa (BA) and Interior Design at Harrington College of Design (AA) informs my ability to marry structure with style. Drawing inspiration from modernist masters like Le Corbusier, Walter Gropius, and the Bauhaus Movement, as well as artists such as Andy Warhol, Anselm Kiefer, Gerhard Richter, and Jasper Johns, I create interiors that are eclectic, contemporary, and uniquely tailored to each client’s story.
Design, for me, is as much about the journey as the destination. Every project begins with a commitment to understanding the client’s vision, fostering a collaborative process built on trust and transparency. From architectural reimagining to interior refinement, I believe in preserving the essence of a space while enhancing its purpose—a seamless blend of form and function that celebrates the people who call it home.
OUR Team
THE EXPERTS WHO BRING YOUR VISION TO LIFE
Beth DeBonis, Senior Designer + Project Manager
Beth’s passion for environmental design was sparked at an early age, growing up in a passive solar home built by her father—a transformative experience that shaped her approach to design. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Harrington College of Design and a background as a trained artist, Beth brings a deep appreciation for color, form, texture and spatial relationships to her work, seamlessly blending these elements with her interest in architecture. Her impressive credentials include advanced AutoCAD expertise, LEED AP certification and professional experience with Chicago’s top design firms, spanning high-end residential to boutique interiors. Beth’s work is driven by a commitment to sustainable design and a dedication to creating spaces that are as intuitive as they are beautiful. She approaches each project with a keen eye for detail, a passion for connecting with clients and a celebratory glass of champagne to toast the perfect solution.
Joshua Lewis Grabowski, Associate Designer
Josh has always prioritized creative expression, but his journey into interior design was a serendipitous one. Initially moving to Chicago to study Fine Art at Columbia College in the cities vibrant South Loop, Josh combines his artistic training with a practical understanding of construction—honed during his formative years working for his stepfather's painting company. This unique blend of artistry and hands-on experience allows him to translate inspiration into innovative concepts that treat interiors and architecture as true art forms. Outside of NMI, Josh’s passion for movement and creativity takes center stage. Whether instructing group fitness classes (he’s an unmatched spin instructor!), painting in his studio or exploring the world on his bicycle, Josh brings the same energy and enthusiasm that he infuses into every design project. His innate positivity and joy make him not only an exceptional designer but also one of the most uplifting presences at NMI—a true asset to the team and every client he serves.
SHALEE WILKINS, Senior DESIGNER + PROJECT MANAGER
Since childhood, Shalee has always known she was destined for a creative life. Earning her BFA from Harrington College of Design, she began her career as an in-house designer at a custom cabinetry and millwork studio, where she spent over seven years mastering her craft. Her award-winning designs ranged from intricate stand-alone furniture pieces to full kitchen remodels, showcasing her precision and artistry. Shalee’s passion lies in analyzing the function, purpose and efficiency of each space, reimagining plans and elevations to reflect her clients’ unique personalities and lifestyles. This thoughtful approach is the foundation for her expertise in interior detailing, scale and proportion. Through the guidance of master mentors, Shalee has evolved from crafting individual pieces to designing entire homes, always balancing technical expertise with creativity. For Shalee, the collaborative process of innovation and imagination is what drives her excitement and joy. When she’s not crafting awe-inspiring interiors, you’ll find her curled up with a good book and her two dogs, savoring the warmth of a cozy winter evening.
