This sophisticated Lakeshore East retreat exudes culture and character, artfully reflecting the unique personality and style of a vibrant blended family who splits their time between Chicago and Miami. As longtime collaborators with NMI, our journey began with a simple furnishing project and evolved into a full-scale gut renovation. The goal: to craft an airy, light-filled sanctuary that bursts with refined color and artistic expression. To highlight the striking cityscape, we employed a restrained architectural palette, allowing curated furnishings and art to take center stage. Each detail was meticulously considered, from architectural finishes that echo the textures and tones of Chicago’s skyline to the thoughtful interplay of materials inspired by the surrounding environment. In the kitchen, matte lacquer cabinetry and a hand-troweled stone finish subtly nod to the iconic limestone facades of neighboring buildings. The Ocean Blue Quartzite countertops and backsplash further enhance the connection to nature, mirroring the ever-changing hues of Lake Michigan’s blues, greens, and greys. The result is a harmonious space where luxury meets livability, designed to celebrate both the family and their surroundings
