Longtime friends of the NMI team, these sophisticated empty nesters sought to craft a chic downtown sanctuary after years of suburban living in Evanston. Entrusting NMI with their vision, we collaborated closely with the development team of this new-build condo project to oversee every detail of the interior design, from curated finish selections to strategic reconfigurations of the home’s interior architecture. Key transformations included converting a full bath into an elegant powder room and reimagining a closed-off study as a dynamic dry bar that seamlessly bridges the public living areas with the private bedrooms and study. To elevate the ambiance further, we redesigned the electrical plan, integrating task-specific and art-focused lighting to beautifully showcase the clients’ remarkable art collection which includes originals by Alexander Calder, Joan Mitchell and Robert Motherwell (to name a few). The result is a sophisticated urban retreat that reflects their refined tastes and lifestyle.
